We Fell Upon Poppies
There we ended up
my companion Baron & I
it was not our goal nor destination
That lie still ahead of us
Viewable by eye that could still view
What hand could not touch
Some might view it as failure
In that we Did not mark our pinnacled goal
with our feet as a flag planted
Yet, the quest is in the steps taken
Reward is not given nor denied
to those only who finish the race
But the conquerer is marked by his entering the arena
Stepping up to the starting blocks
Entering the batters box
There is no such thing as a strike-out
To he who 'swings for the fence'
'None' strike-out when swinging.
A patch of Poppy's were not our goal nor
destination
It is however as far as we got
Neither Baron nor I felt denied
as we pondered our shortcoming
Feat unmet, mount untrod
We fell among Poppy's
An honored memory unveiled
a prayer whispered to heaven
We fell upon poppy's
and dirt mixed about
We could view our destination
Our eyes carried us there
So we reveled in the sun and shade
As conquerers in swept smiles
