Bard you are bringing back some very happy times for me.

You know what I really remember the most about those days and the TV shows, movies, etc. They were really good actors. There were real stories and plot lines. And the biggest difference "NOBODY HAD TO GET NAKED AND HAVE SEX to sell tickets.

Somehow I don't ever remember Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, John Wayne, etc, etc in wild sex scenes yet they won awards!

I am cracking myself up. It has been a LONG Monday, so I guess I may be a little simple. Just glancing over the title of this thread, I was thinking of Divine - as in Lust in the Dust (and Hairspray). :laugh but I just couldn't quite make the old west pictures posted match with the old west images in my head. Then it dawned on me I was being a dumbass.

I told you it was a long day. LOL. At least I posted about me being a dumbass instead of just making a dumbass post and proving it. :laugh

I mourned the loss of Get Smart years ago. I adored that show. Don Adams was great. and remember Tennessee Tuxedo, and who else?

Andy Devine was also the host for a kids show on Saturday mornings I believe. The sponsor was Buster Brown shoes. I can't remember the name of the show, but there was a character on there named Froggy and Andy always used to tell him, "Plunk your magic twanger, Froggy". I think there was also Midnight the cat.

Who remembers Fury starring Peter Graves? He was a ranch owner and had a boy living with him. I wonder what Freud would have made of that?

I remember as a kid, walking into the living room and asking my sister who is 4 years older than I what she was watching on TV. She said "get smart". I said screw you, I was JUST asking!

LOLOL

We still laugh about that one.

:D

Now they make new movies in old black and white
With happy endings, where nobody fights
So if you find yourself in that nostalgic rage
Honey, jump right up and show your age
I wish I had a pencil thin mus tache
The "Boston Blackie" kind
A two toned Ricky Ricardo jacket
And an autographed picture of Andy Devine
Oh I remember bein' buck -toothed and skinny
Writin' fan letters to Sky's niece Penny
Oh I wish I had a pencil thin mustache
Then I could solve some mysteries too
Oh it's Bandstand, Disneyland, growin' up fast
Drinkin' on a fake I.D.
And Rama of the jungle was everyone's Bawana
But only jazz musicians were smokin' marijuana
Yeah, I wish I had a pencil thin mustache
then I could solve some mysteries too
But then it's flat top, dirty bop, coppin' a feel
Grubbin' on the livin' room floor (so sore)
Yeah, they send you off to college, try to gain a little knowledge,
But all you want to do is learn how to score
Yeah, but now I'm gettin' old, don't wear underwear
I don't go to church and I don't cut my hair
But I can go to movies and see it all there
Just the way that it u sed to be
That's why I wish I had a pencil thin mustache
The "Boston Blackie" kind, a two-toned Ricky Ricardo jacket
And an autographed picture of Andy Devine
Oh, I could be anyone I wanted to be
Maybe suave Errol Flynn or a Sheik of Araby
If I only had a pencil thin mustache
Then I could do some cruisin' too
Yeah, Bryl-cream, a little dab'll do yah
Oh, I could do some cruisin' too
