'The Library'

I was thrilled at age ten or whatever it was
In order to get my first library card & book
I recall walking down those steps that seemed to descend forever
Big gulp in my throat, not sure If I could field the questions that lie ahead.

So very funny, I was at that same building the other day
And my mind swept back to those days indeed
I could actually recall the very scent of that basement
In a moment of fondness timetravel and nostalgia

I paused, and was taken by the trip that our minds often take concerning such matters
I negotiated the day well enough, and will always recall that 'right of passage'
The steps were the same number, as I mused upon how many more there seemed to be then.

The library, the scent, the day, forever we keep these treasures within
these fond memories become the steps that we negotiate tommorrow
often with that same scense of mild trepadation
We learned much at the library, I imagine more than we will ever know.

Above all other things, we learned the colorfull meaning of 'Shhh!'

Thanks Calli,

How kind to even notice,
This was merely a simple notation concerning how
taken I was that day as my mind reeled finding me tumbling back into time whereas I literally could smell again that library of old, a grand mix of excitement as I walked through this 'right of passage' with each step I was one step closer to being an adult and reading like my nig sister Rosemary.

But the scent, that I recalled it so vividly, leaves me wanting to press it to time in words, as a memorial of sorts.

Again Calli thanks.
