View Full Version : Zoey's poem

tender smiles from me to you
eyes that sparkle like the sun on the morning dew
crispness of leaves beneath my feet
the smell of angels on your breath so sweet
memories of days gone by play like a song
notes of tenderness to remain lifelong
first smiles, first steps, first words from your lips
kissing your neck, your belly, your fingertips
hopscotch with a rock that was found
watching it while hopping on the ground
clover flowers tied together with care
so they could be placed ever so gently on our hair
smells of honeysuckle, roses, and cucumbers too
all blend together with the essence of you
beating of eggs, flour, water and oil
taking turns with the labor and toil
mock fighting over who gets the spoon lick
pulling one over on you is some trick
I watch as the light dances across your skin
anticipating the time when I can love you again

God grant me the strength to let you go
Please hold me tight while I grieve for you so
You are my life my heart my soul
The most precious of angels I ever will know

I wrote this for a friend who has lost her children because of her addiction.
She is clean now- but it came too late.
Sad situation - her daughter is amazing - I hate that she will miss out of her growing up.
