You were my light for such a long time
shining the way forward through the black cold abyss
a sweet dream that gave hope for the future
that love did exist would exist would fill the emptiness within
vacant ruins left behind from a lifetime of loss
You were also the dagger of steel that ripped me in two
that shredded my heart leaving me in a pile of pain
slumped on my knees drowned in my sorrow
completely void of warmth your shadow blocking the sun
you are the epitome of duality
a mirror of the split within myself
a reminder the wolf that lives is the one I feed
the day will come when I can leave you hungry
be my own light with no conflict
not searching without for something within
I feel it creeping in with the horizon just over the next hill
I am longing for the brightness the warmth
I will get there on my own as I have been all along
you will stay just a dream
a sweet dream that gave me hope when I needed it most.

poignant is the word that comes to mind.
yay me, I survived and remained positive seeing good in the world.
well done indeed.
funny the twists and turns life throws at you. I sure didn't see myself here this time last year.
not even a few months ago.
but oddly enough I am finding myself quite content where I am.
